Set up the Adyen payment integration

Connect an Adyen merchant account to Sprii Checkout for one Page, then point Adyen's webhook at Sprii.

What it does, and what it doesn't

Adyen takes the payment in Sprii Checkout for this Page and reports the result to Sprii through a webhook. This integration uses manual capture: the shopper's payment is authorized first and captured later. Approval, payout and settlement stay with Adyen.

Requirements

  • Admin access to the Sprii Page
  • An Adyen merchant account
  • Access to Adyen's Customer Area. Managing API keys requires Manage API credentials or Merchant admin; webhook setup requires Merchant admin or Merchant technical integrator.

Set it up

  1. In Sprii, go to Page settings Page settings in the main menu > Sprii checkout > Payment methods Payment methods tab under Page settings > Sprii checkout
  2. Find the Adyen card and click Configure.

  3. Click Activate payment Activate payment button
  4. Enter a Title. Shoppers see it as the name of this payment option at checkout.

  5. In Adyen's live Customer Area, select the company account, then Developers > API credentials > Payments. Open the intended credential and select Server settings > Authentication > API key. If you need a new key, click Generate API key, copy it privately into Sprii's API Key, and click Save changes in Adyen before leaving. Follow Adyen's current key instructions; a generated key cannot be copied again after you leave, and generating a replacement gives the previous key only 24 more hours.
  6. Fill in merchantAccount with the intended Adyen merchant account name, not the API credential username. If Live is shown and unchecked in Sprii, select it for this live setup. Site Url appears in the live configuration and needs the complete Adyen Checkout API base, not your storefront or Sprii webhook URL. In the live Adyen Customer Area, get your prefix from Developers > API URLs > Prefix. Use https://[prefix]-checkout-live.adyenpayments.com/checkout/v72. Sprii uses the API version in this base address; it does not add one for you. This is the standard live format; a location-based account needs its assigned endpoint instead. Do not construct a regional hostname from this example or include an operation such as /paymentLinks. See Adyen’s live endpoint format.

  7. Click Save Save button
  8. In Adyen's Customer Area, go to Developers > Webhooks, click Create new webhook, select Standard webhook, then click Add.
  9. Under Server configuration, enter https://app.sprii.io/functions/adyen/webhook in URL and use JSON as the Method. This is separate from Site Url. Sprii's form does not display a webhook address.
  10. Under General, make sure Enabled is on, then click Save configuration. If you change Enabled later, save the configuration again.
  11. In Adyen, select the intended merchant account, then Settings > Account settings. Under General settings, edit Capture delay, select Manual, and click Save. See Adyen's manual capture instructions.

After these steps, the Page settings and Adyen webhook configuration are saved. Saving them does not confirm that a payment, capture or refund has succeeded.

Limitations

Important: Check the payment in Adyen before you ship and check the result in Adyen after any capture or refund, including one started from Sprii. Sprii can show a payment as paid, captured or refunded even when Adyen refused it or the operation failed.

To capture an authorized payment in Adyen’s Customer Area, open Payments > Payment list, select the matching PSP reference, then See all payment actions > Capture payment. Review the amount and reference, select Capture this payment, and submit the capture request. This requires Merchant manage payments or Capture payments. Check the payment details for the result; submitting a request is not proof of settlement.

  • Payment settings belong to this Page. Existing campaigns use the saved method and title the next time their checkout loads. Changing the merchant account or API key later can stop capture and refund of earlier payments.
